AHPA Hires Dentali, Elects Board

SILVER SPRING, Md.--The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) hired Steven Dentali, Ph.D., as its vice president of scientific and technical affairs. Dentali holds a doctorate in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Arizona with an emphasis on natural products chemistry and pharmacology. For the past three years, he worked as the senior director of botanical sciences for Nutricia USA. Dentali fills the position previously held by Joseph Betz, Ph.D., who accepted a position as director of the newly formed Dietary Supplements Analytical Methods and Reference Materials Program at the Office of Dietary Supplements at the National Institutes of Health.

AHPA (www.ahpa.org) also announced the results of its 2002 Board of Trustees election, held at AHPA's annual meeting in early March. JamesSelander, Nutraceutical Corp., will continue to serve as the chairman. Garry Pay, Metabolife International, will serve as vice chair; JohnVenardos, Herbalife International, is the treasurer; and Beth Lambert, Herbalist & Alchemist, is secretary.

Inc.; Jerry McLaughlin, Nature's Sunshine Products; Stephen Morrissey, Botanica BioScience; James Roza, Now Foods; Bill Schoenbart, Perrigo Co.; Gordon Walker, Nature's Way; Mary Beth Watkins, Botanical Laboratories; and Doug Whitehead, Municity Network.
