AHPA Publishes New Guidance Documents

WASHINGTON--The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) published Guidance Documents for the Manufacture and Sale of Botanical Extracts, three documents that set out guidelines for procedures and issues encountered in the manufacture, sale and labeling of herbal extracts.

One guidance focuses on the manufacture and sale of bulk botanical extracts and one on retail labeling of dietary supplements containing botanicals. The third is a white paper about the use of marker compounds in manufacturing and labeling botanically derived dietary supplements.

"These documents provide a comprehensive discussion of the topics that are essential for manufacturing and labeling herbal extracts," said MichaelMcGuffin, president of AHPA (www.ahpa.org)."AHPA's new publication fills an information void by compiling this complex and critical information into one source." The documents are available for purchase fromAHPA, (301) 588-1171.
