KIBBUTZ KETURA, Israel—Algatechnologies announced it received approval from the UK Food Standards Agency to market its AstaPure® natural astaxanthin for use in dietary supplements in Europe. According to the company, the approval affirms the ingredient quality and production integrity; Algatechnologies holds a world patent for its closed, environmentally-protected system for cultivation of astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae.

“Our target is to maintain and enhance our leading position in the astaxanthin European market by providing ingredients of the highest quality and purity,” said Efrat Kat, marketing manager at Algatechnologies. “We continue to employ strictly controlled manufacturing operations and quality-assurance controls in our facilities. We will constantly increase our distribution network in Europe, as it is a major market for astaxanthin as demonstrated by a growth rate in double-digits over the last few years”
