GREENSBORO, N.C.--In early May, Banner Pharmacapshosted representatives from more than 20 nutritional and pharmaceuticalcompanies at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center to discuss consumertrends in the nutritional marketplace and clinical findings related tonutraceutical products.

Conference speakers included Elizabeth Sloan, president of SloanTrends & Solutions Inc.; David Eisenberg, M.D., of the Osher Institute atHarvard Medical School; Mark Blumenthal, founder of the American BotanicalCouncil; Laurie Demeritt, president of The Hartman Group; and Tierona Low Dog, amember of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine.John Barbee, senior vice president of nutritional sales and marketing for BannerPharmacaps (www.banpharm.com), addressedthe forum about the importance of emphasizing scientific data to build theindustry. "If we as an industry pursue this goal with the commitment anddedication evidenced by many of the companies present, I believe our customersand society will put their trust and faith in our products as they look toimprove their health and quality of life," he said.
