LA GRANGE, Ill.—Cognis Nutrition & Health (www.cognis.com) announced the corporate acquisition of Norway’s Napro Pharma AS, a manufacturer of high-quality omega- 3 fish oils; the transition is expected to close by the end of June. Napro Pharma produces omega-3 fish oil concentrates in ethyl ester and triglyceride forms; the company recently expanded its facilities and enhanced its equipment, adding a new distillation unit.

According to Stephane Baeden, group vice president, Cognis Nutrition & Health, the acquisition complements Cognis’ strength in the global health and nutrition market. “Cognis will be working hard to provide customized products and new concepts so our business partners can fully benefit from the growth of the omega-3 market,” he said. The new omega-3 business provides Cognis entry into the brain health platform and complements its existing strength in ingredients for heart health.
