LA GRANGE, Ill.CognisNutrition & Health in July announced its corporate parent opened a new $24million high-performance facility in Illertissen, Germany, dedicated toproduction of plant sterol esters and conjugated linoleic acids. Cognissupplies the ingredients as Vegapure® and Tonalin® CLA, respectively.

The facility at Cognis international Nutrition & HealthCompetence Center in Illertissen is the largest single investment it has madesince its founding in 1999. According to Cognis, the new plant meets itsin-house GMP (good manufacturing practice) requirements, and was set to fulfillthe requirements of the upcoming ISO 22000. Cognis already operates two sterolproduction plants, in France and the United States.
