CRN Names New Board Chairman

WASHINGTONThe Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) announced the new lineup of its board of directors, naming John Blair as its new chairman. Blair, senior vice president of NSA LLC, will serve as chairman through 2014. He succeeds Jim Hamilton, president of DSM Nutritional Products, USA.

Our industry will continue to face challenges over the course of the next two years, but were prepared for them and this industry is positioned like never before for strong growth," Blair said. Moving forward in 2013, well work to educate the 113th Congress on health benefits that dietary supplements provide and how they are regulated; well challenge the industry to ensure complete compliance with the laws and regulations already in place; and well be zealous advocates on behalf of our members to promote a commercial marketplace and a regulatory framework supported by sound science." 

CRN, which is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary, also elected new officers for the board, including:

·         Chair ElectHarvey Kamil, NBTY;

·         TreasurerDebbie Trinker, Kemin Health;

·         SecretaryKristen Blanchard, Nutramax Laboratories;

·         Immediate Past ChairJim Hamilton, DSM Nutritional Products; and

·         CRN President and CEOSteve Mister.

In addition, CRN members elected new members for the board of directors. Michael Bentley, SierraSil Health; Paul Dijkstra, InterHealth Nutraceuticals; and Paul Faganel, Embria Health Sciences will serve their first term. Both Carl Hastings, Reliv International, and Vic Neufeld, Jamieson Laboratories, were reelected to serve a second three-year term.
