Cruz Bay Acquires Better Nutrition Publisher

GLEN ELLEN, Va.Cruz BayPublishing, a subsidiary of newly created Active Interest Media (AIM), acquiredthe assets of Richmond, Va.-based Sabot Publishing Inc. Sabot, which was foundedin 1999, holds a stable of special interest publications, including BetterNutrition and Vegetarian Times magazines.

AIM is headed by a former chief executive officer of TimesMirror Magazines, who said the acquisition positions the new company in buildinga strong enthusiast publishing business. Chicago-based Wind Point Partners committed $40 million inequity capital for AIMs launch. With Wind Points support, Cruz Bay has purchasing powerof $90 million, said Efrem Zimbalist III, AIMs owner. With thisbacking, I intend to build Cruz Bay into a highly valuable specialty publishingand information business.
