Danisco Acquires Chinese CMC Producer

NEW CENTURY, Kan.—Danisco acquired Zhangjiagang Sanhui Chemical Co. Ltd., a leading Chinese supplier of cellulose gum (CMC), enhancing Danisco’s Textural Ingredients Division. The portfolio already includes all the major hydrocolloids, including pectin, alginate, locust bean gum, carrageenan, xanthan and guar gum. With the acquisition, Danisco gains a manufacturing facility outside of Shanghai that currently employs 250 people and has sales of close to US$17 million.
