BOUCHERVILLE, QuebecDanone Canada has shifted the manufacturing of DanActive brand yogurt from facilities in the United States to its newly renovateplant in Boucherville, following a $50 million renovation to the Canadian location. Danone said the expansion and relocation are the result of studies showing increased consumer interest in Canada for probiotic yogurt beverages, and the increased production will require several million liters of milk from local Canadian dairy farms.

"After completing our analysis, we're proud that DanActive will be produced in Canada by local workers using local products," Louis Frenette, CEO of Danone Canada, said in a Danone press release.

The expansion added more than 25,000 square feet to the boucherville facility, which now operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. According to the company, the $50 million investment included $2 million in support from provincial economic development agency Investissement Quebec.
