NEW YORK—The Drug, Chemical & Associated Technologies Association (DCAT) is hosting its DCAT Week at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel here from March 10 to 13. As part of the series of educational programs, the DCAT Nutrition & Health Committee will present “Drug Nutrient Depletion: Its Effects and Remedies” with Derrick DeSilva, M.D. During his presentation, set for March 12 at 10:15 a.m., DeSilva will discuss how some pharmaceuticals may inhibit the body’s ability to absorb certain nutrients and how the effects can be mitigated. DeSilva is a practicing internist at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, N.J., and an adjunct professor at JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J.

“We are pleased to have Dr. DeSilva be part of DCAT Week,” said Janice Binger, DCAT vice president for Nutrition & Health. “Known for his focus on the universal care of his patients, he will share with attendees how prescription drugs and nutritional supplements can work together for the well-being of patients.”

More information about DCAT Week is available online (DCAT.org).
