DKSH Expands Services in China, India

ZURICHDKSH is strengthening its presence in China and India with new distribution agreements, hires and facilities, allowing more natural product manufacturers to enter these growing markets.

In China, DKSH and Sinerga S.p.A. have finalized an agreement under which DKSHs business unit performance materials will provide sales, logistics and distribution services to Sinerga in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The collaboration started on May 1, 2011. Under the arrangement, DKSH will distribute Sinergas high-performance personal care raw materials, such as natural surfactants, emulsifiers, preservatives and functional ingredients, which are used in skin and hair care products.

Earlier this year, DKSH appointed Jennifer Tang as new business line manager to guide the Chinese food and beverage ingredients operation.

In India, the company appointed a new country manager, signed several new distribution agreements, and invested in new technical facilities. Atul S. Nagarkar, as new the country manager, India operation is a postgraduate chemical engineer with a masters degree from Florida State Universityand Chemical Engineering UDCT, India, and has 18 years of experience in the specialty chemicals industry. Atul Nagarkars main responsibilities will be to further strengthen DKSHs market expansion services in India and to develop business unit performance materials in this market.

Ashland Aqualon Functional (AAFI) Ingredients and DKSH have joined forces in India. DKSH India provides market expansion services for AAFIs pharmaceutical products, namely Klucel, Benecel (HPMC), Blanose (CMC), Ethyl Cellulose, Natrasol. The products are used in a broad range of pharmaceutical applications, particularly in solid and liquid orals, binding agents or as suspending agent. The two companies are already collaborating in paint, construction and personal care applications.

Horphag Research also appointed DKSH to distribute its products Pycnogenol® and Prelox® in India. DKSH has distributed Horphags pharma, personal care and food ingredients to manufacturers around the globe.

In addition, DKSH India and Seppic, a supplier of innovative turn-key intermediates and functional additives for a range of industrial applications, have decided to enter a distribution partnership. The agency will cover the distribution of Seppics specialty polyester polyols and additives for polyurethane applications, solvents and coalescing agents, plasticizers, reactive diluents, wetting agent and antistatic agents for waterborne coatings, adhesives, inks, and plastics.

For the Indian food and beverage industry, DKSH has started a strategic distribution alliance with Sensus, a company that produces the food ingredients Frutafit® inulin and Frutalose® oligofructose.

DKSH started to build a new innovation center at its Mumbai site. To run the facility, the Swiss-based company already hired a technical specialist to support business partners with formulation development, applications and new technology evaluations. The Indian laboratory will open as DKSHs 19th research site around the globe.

DKSH has broadened its business footprint in India in the recent years through the acquisition of Voltas chemicals trading division, a member of the Tata Group. DKSHs business unit performance materials provides marketing, sales and distribution services to more than 700 customers in India.

Abbott Healthcare recently appointed DKSH India as Partners In Excellence". DKSH supplies Abbott Healthcare with several key ingredients to supports its market expansion.
