DSM Cutting Jobs in Germany

HEERLEN, The NetherlandsInthe wake of its acquisition of the vitamin and fine chemical business fromRoche, DSM announced it is adjusting production volumes and restructuringoperations in Grenzach, Germany. While the restructuring will result inapproximately 290 job reductions, DSM worked with employee representatives todevelop a plan to preserve as many jobs as possible. Among the plan steps arereducing the work week to 33.6 hours with continuous shift operation; convertingsome full-time jobs to part-time positions; and transferring some personnel toother Roche plants.

DSM (www.dsmnutritionalproducts.com)noted the changes should strengthen the Grenzach operations in the long term.
