DSM plans 420 layoffs

KAISERAUGST, Switzerland
On Feb. 5, DSM Nutritional Products, formerly the Roche division of Vitamins & Fine Chemicals, reported it will be cutting 420 total jobs due to restructuring measures. Implementation of these layoffs will take place in phases from 2004 through 2006. The restructuring plan, as agreed upon by management and employee representatives, will include early retirement and parttime work arrangements; severance payments for job redundancies based on age and social environment; and reductions in the number of shifts.
