DSM Selects Distributor for Japan

DELFT, Netherlands & OSAKA, JapanDSM Food Specialties (DFS) (www.dsm.com) announced Osaka, Japan-based San-Ei Gen F.F.I. Inc. will distribute DFSs PeptoPro® active peptide ingredient to Japanese manufacturers for use in the production of co-branded peptide beverages.

The multi-million-euro agreement follows a deal between DFS and Hamburg, Germany-based Haleko GmbH to launch MultiPower Recharge with PeptoPro, a peptide energy drink, in Europe on Jan. 1.

Originally developed by DFS in partnership with the Netherlands Olympic Committee * Netherlands Sports Federation (NOC*NSF), PeptoPro is a casein hydrolysate derived from milk protein through a patented process. Its small, non-allergenic peptides are highly bioavailable and increase glucose uptake into muscle, thereby increasing glycogen recovery following exercise, according to the company. The ingredient received a Gold award in the Health Ingredients Awards competition at the Health Ingredients Europe Exhibition 2004.

We are holding talks with numerous distributors and manufacturers around the world to identify cooperative marketing opportunities for PeptoPro, said Richard Calk, Jr., business director for PeptoPro.
