PHOENIX--The General Nutrition Company (GNC) (www.gnc.com) has signed Arizona Diamondback left-fielder Luis Gonzalez as a spokesperson, according to The Arizona Republic. Gonzalez, who won the All-Star Game's home run derby and is second after the San Francisco Giants' Barry Bonds for most home runs in the major leagues this year, signed a one-year contract with GNC to make appearances and have his likeness used on product promotions. The deal is said to be in the low six figures.

"If he hadn't already taken GNC products for the past few years, he would never have taken this sponsorship," said Mark Clayton, Gonzalez' marketing agent. "I would say that these products have helped keep him physically fit over the years."
