Horny Goat Weed May Aid Male Libido

HICKSVILLE, N.Y.--In a double blind, placebo-controlled, company-sponsored clinical study, horny goat weed supplementation improved male libido. In this study, 13 men who used Viagra and 25 men who did not received approximately 1,600 mg/d of horny goat weed and an additional 3,232 mg one to two hours before sexual activity.

After 45 days, the double-blind phase of the study began with either the supplement or a placebo randomly given to non-Viagra men who had reported a positive response to the herb. All subjects were evaluated after the first 45 days of treatment and again at 60 days.

It was found that 65 percent of thenon-Viagra men had a positive response to the herbal mixture, and 46 percent of theViagra-supplemented men also had a positive response. The study's lead author, StevenLamm, M.D., noted that the mechanism of action for horny goat weed is unknown, but it seems to exert a testosterone-like effect on users. This study was sponsored by Bodyonics Ltd., the maker of Pinnacle Horny Goat Weed; the company also provided the study's product. For more on this study, visitwww.pinnaclebody.com/hgwabstract.
