Hurricane Sandy Affects Industry Businesses

* DSM issued a statement to the press noting all DSM offices, including the Parsippany and Columbia offices, as well as all production and warehouse sites are open and functioning. Phone service is currently down in Parsippany, so the Human Nutrition Account Service Center there is unable to take phone or fax orders; orders can be sent to [email protected]. Plants and warehouses are operating under normal conditions and existing orders are being processed and shipped without interruption. The company also opened its facilities to all affected employees and their families for meals and hot showers.
* Ecuadorian Rainforest approached the information gap via social media, tweeting as of this morning that power was still being restored, the company is filling orders. It is using the alternate number of (973) 798-8472, and added it may have a two- to three-day delay in shipping orders.
* SupplySide West is still on track for next week in Las Vegas, and VIRGO issued information to exhibitors about shipping freight. Myles Dey, exhibit operations coordinator, noted there are still three options for shipping freight: directly to the show site for delivery by Nov. 5; sending to the Advanced Warehouse, which has extended the deadline to receive freight throughout the duration of the show; or via the Business and Package Center at the Venetian Hotel (for guests staying at the hotel).
