Investment Firms Acquire Atkins Nutritionals

RONKONKOMA, N.Y.ParthenonCapital, a leading middle-market private equity firm, and GS Capital, aninvestment vehicle for Goldman Sachs, announced in late October they acquiredAtkins Nutritionals Inc. (ANI). Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Parthenon Capital and GS Capital will have controllinginterest in Atkins Nutritionals, in partnership with the senior management ofAtkins Nutritionals and Dr. Atkins estate.

Parthenon Capital believes that ANI has an importantmission that extends well beyond the financial numbers, and we are committed tocontinuing the current course and strategy of the company in partnership withthe companys current management, employees, customers and suppliers, saidJohn Rutherford of Parthenon Capital.

We consider this a very attractive investment opportunity,added Muneer Satter of Goldman Sachs. Atkins Nutritionals is well-positionedfor growth with a new product pipeline that may be one of the strongest and mostpromising of any food company in todays market.
