TRALEE, Ireland—Kerry Group plc acquired two North American food ingredients businesses—Custom Industries and Nuvex Ingredients—for U.S. $83 million. The companies will be incorporated into Kerry’s North American operation, based in Beloit, Wis., under the sweet ingredients line. Custom Industries, based in St. Genevieve, Mo., and Toronto, manufactures particulates for bakery applications as well as confectionery ingredients. Blue Earth, Minn.-based Nuvex specializes in customized high-protein and -fiber nutritional ingredients.

“[These] acquisitions are consistent with our strategy of investing in and expanding the Group’s technical capabilities in nutritional and wellness food categories,” said Hugh Friel, chief executive officer (CEO) of Kerry Group (www.kerrygroup.com). “Both acquisitions complement our existing facilities in the U.S. and Canada, adding new proprietary technologies and valuable production capacity to meet Kerry’s growth plans.”
