NEW YORK—Kyowa Hakko USA announced its dipeptide Sustamine™ L-Alanyl-L- Glutamine is now self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe). According to Yoichiro Sugimura, senior director of scientific affairs and business development, Kyowa Hakko USA, Sustamine L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine is a “high-tech” amino acid dipeptide that promotes muscle rehydration, recovery and can be used as a source for energy refueling.
The ingredient is produced via a novel, cost-effective, patented fermentation technology; it is available in powder form and is water-soluble into a clear solution. Sustamine is odorless and tasteless, with good stability that allows it to be formulated into a wide range of food and beverage applications.
