HAIFA, IsraelLipogen Ltd. developed a new delivery system for its Lipogen PS (phosphatidylserine) functional ingredient for use in infant formula and baby foods. PS is naturally found in breast milk and is essential for brain development and normal nerve function. We expect the patented formulation will help us expand Lipogens presence in the infant formula and baby food markets, said David Rutenberg, CEO, Lipogen (www.Lipogen.co.il). Lipogen PS is an all-natural supplement based on soy lecithin that does not affect the taste, texture or color of the final product. The new formulation is based on Lipogen PS, which it affirmed as GRAS (generally recognized as safe); FDA had no questions on the Lipogen PS notification. This ready-to-use formulation can be easily applied to any infant formula already containing soy lecithin.
