HAIFA , Israel—Lipogen announced it completed installation of production equipment at its state-of-the-art facility here that increased its production capacity for its Lipogen PS (phosphatidylserine) ingredient by 100 percent. The expansion will also allow the company to cut down on its PS cost production, and match pricing to the conventional rates of the functional food and dietary supplement market. Lipogen gained GRAS (generally recognized as safe) affirmation for the ingredient in 2006, and expects to expand its sales by 50 percent during 2007.

“This is the first step in implementing our strategy to maintain our leading position in the market for high-value natural PS,” said David Rutenberg, chief executive officer. “The U.S. market is looking for innovative functional food solutions and is ready to use this exciting brain health ingredient in several food categories.”
