VEVEY, SwitzerlandThe supply of canned pumpkin will be down in the United States this holiday season, reports the Omaha World-Herald and other news organizations. Libbys pumpkin pie products, the supplier of nearly all the canned pumpkin in the United States, said wet weather hurt its harvest this year. Nestle, which owns Libby's, said its pumpkin supply is down due to heavy rains at its farm in Morton, Ill. Nestle said its pumpkin products are 80 to 90 percent of the market.

While many grocery stores still have canned pumpkin available, many retailers are reporting they dont have as much as last year and additional shipments are uncertain.

However, supplies of fresh pumpkins were not affected by the weather, and shoppers can still buy pre-made pumpkin pie in many grocery stores.
