HOBART, Australia—Marinova is opening the world’s first specialist fucoidan extraction and fractionation facility. Based in Tasmania, the facility will allow Marinova to extract pure fucoidans, naturally sulphated polysaccharides, from a variety of macroalgal species. The facility will produce a variety of products from nature-equivalent fucoidans to lower molecular weight bioactive derivatives from species including Fucus vesiculosus, Ascophyllum nodosum and Laminaria digitata. In addition, Marinova is on the front lines of scientific research about fucoidans, including applications for immune support, cardiovascular health, metabolic syndrome and more.
