Mass Market SalesBoost Naturade 1Q

IRVINE, Calif.--A 103-percent increase in mass-market sales helped NaturadeInc. (OTC BB:NRDC) post big revenue gains and continue to trim net losses in itsfirst quarter ended March 31. Net sales jumped 26 percent, compared to a yearago, to $4.3 million, due mainly to the introduction of three new Total Soyproducts and the addition of new mass-merchandise customers. The company grewits mass-market customer base to 28,000 in 1Q 2001 from 15,000 a year ago. Grossmargin rose 2.7 percent of sales as a result of higher margin sales of the newready-to-drink products. Net loss improved to $.64 million or $.09 per share, a12.3-percent reduction from $.73 million or $.12 per share lost in the samequarter last year.
