GREENWICH, Conn.--California Day-Fresh Foods and the Wiman Beverage Company merged on July 6 to become the second largest West Coast producer and distributor of fresh juices, juice blends and smoothies. North Castle Partners, a Greenwich, Conn.-based investment firm, purchased the two companies with the intent of creating a single large refrigerated beverage manufacturer. The California Day-Fresh Foods name will remain in place. Manufacturing and distribution facilities for the new California Day-Fresh Foods company will be located in California [Glendora, Brisbane and San Diego] and Denver, Colo.

Management for the newly merged company will be made up of senior managers from both California Day-Fresh and Wiman. Dave Sperry, president of California Day-Fresh Foods, will continue to serve as president of the new company. "We believe that by working closely with the professionals at North Castle and the firm's other companies in this industry we will be able to create an industry leading company," said Sperry.

Lately, North Castle has been acquiring various beverage companies, including M.H. Zeigler & Sons, another juice manufacturer. It also recently acquired all publicly held stock in the Saratoga Beverage Group. For additional information, visit www.northcastlepartners.com.
