Mitchell Named Vice President of Conventions and Meetings

MCLEAN, VAThe American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) has promoted Jenny Mitchell to the position of vice president of conventions and meetings. Previously, Mitchell led the conventions and meetings department as director of conventions and meetings.

In making the announcement, Leslie G. Sarasin, Esq., CAE, AFFIs president and chief executive officer, said, Under Jennys leadership, AFFI has produced several landmark advancements over the past year. The Institute launched the Our 48 Hours Frozen Food Executive Forum and re-branded and enhanced its flagship event, the AFFI Frozen Food Convention. This well-deserved promotion recognizes Jennys contributions, and those of the entire team with her direction, to the value the Institute provides to members.

Mitchells promotion follows the announcement that the 2007 AFFI Frozen Food Convention, held in February in Monterey, CA, generated an 11% increase in registrations, a 47% increase in sponsorships, and 37 new AFFI members.

Mitchell oversees preparations for AFFIs events, including the AFFI Frozen Food Convention, Distribution and Logistics Conference, Government Action Summit and Our 48 Hours Frozen Food Executive Forum. Mitchell also is responsible for coordinating the Food Industry Environmental Councils (FIEC) Annual Food Processing Environmental Conference, the Texas-Mexico Frozen Food Councils Frozen Food Fiesta and the National Frozen Pizza Institutes Annual Conference. In addition to managing registrations, housing and meeting room assignments for Institute events and those of affiliated organizations, she is involved in the selection of host cities for future AFFI events.

Mitchell is a graduate of Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Theatre Arts. Prior to joining AFFI, Mitchell worked at the Cabe Theatre in Conway, Arkansas, where she served as Costume Crew Head. In this role, Mitchell was responsible for the execution of costumes.
