Monsanto Opens New Facility

KEARNEY, Neb.--Mike Johanns, governor of Nebraska, and other state officials gathered in August with Monsanto representatives to dedicate a new seed processing facility at Monsanto's seed-corn operation located here. "We're very pleased that Monsanto has invested in the economic and agricultural future of Nebraska," Johanns said.

Monsanto(www.monsanto.com) spent seven years collecting $28 million for the upgrade, which includes two single-pass dryers with monitoring systems to track the drying process and a nine story, 400-foot-long, temperature-controlled bulk storage building.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony included a breakfast and tours of the site, which employs 29 full-time workers and several hundred seasonal workers. The Kearney site provides seed corn under the DEKALB and Asgrow brands to farmers in 10 western U.S. states, as well as Canada, Argentina, Mexico, Italy, Turkey, Greece, France, Korea, Japan and Australia.
