Nicholas Marcucci Named New President at Gonnella

CHICAGOThe board of directors at Gonnella Baking Company has appointed Nicholas (Nick) Marcucci as the new president, effective immediately. Marcucci, 55, replaces George F. Marcucci, his second cousin who passed away Nov. 28.

Nicholas Marcucci has served in various administrative capacities at Gonnella for the last 30 years. As most Gonnella and Marcucci family members do, he learned the business from the ground up, working in a variety of positions at the Chicago office during the summer when he was a teenager. After graduating from Notre Dame H.S. in Niles, he earned a computer science degree at the University of Dayton.

Marcuccis first job after college was at Allstate Insurance, where he spent two-and-a half years in the programming department before joining Gonnella full-time. He has served as corporate secretary for the last eight years. As the MIS director, Marcucci used his expertise to design and develop numerous software programs for the companys online order system and other administrative functions.

George left a great legacy at Gonnella and I hope to continue moving the company forward with our plan, Marcucci said. The baking industry is always changing so the challenge is to stay ahead of those changes. We have been fortunate for several reasons, but we have also made good decisions regarding technology and the expansion of routes. Production has improved, and the marketing partnerships with Chicagos pro sports teams and with Miller Park in Milwaukee have produced better than expected results for us.

Marcucci and his wife, Mary Anne, live in Park Ridge. They have two children, Katie and Nick.
