PROVO, Utah—A peer-review of data documented in food usages and formal safety studies found noni juice continues to be safe, even at high doses. The scientific article, published in the Journal of Food Science (71, 8: 100-106, 2006), further highlights the recent increased use and safety of Morinda citrifolia L. (noni) as a dietary supplement. Several preclinical safety tests and a human clinical safety study revealed no adverse health effects, even at high doses; the available data substantiate its continued use as a safe food. The literature review included toxicity tests, allergenicity tests and also genotoxicity tests. According to the researchers, it appears from this review that noni juice is as safe as other common fruit juices.
