NPA Installs New President, Board Members

LAS VEGAS—The Natural Products Association installed its 2009-2010 board of directors, including its new president, during its 72nd annual trade show and convention, Natural MarketPlace, in Las Vegas.

Long-time NPA member and independent retailer Pat Sardell, owner of Country Vitamins, was sworn in for a two-year term as association president. Sardell succeeds Debra Short, co-owner of House of Health. Short will serve a one-year term as past-president.

Carilyn Anderson from Carlson Labs, was sworn in as chair of the Supply Council; and Randy Reinartz of Wayne and Mary’s Nutrition Center was re-elected to chair the Retail Council.

Newly elected or re-elected to the 22-member board are suppliers: Bruce Barlean, Barlean's Organic Oils LLC; Gary Barrows, Bluebonnet Nutrition Corp.; Tom Grillea, United Natural Foods Inc.; John Venardos, Herbalife; Bruce Worley, Humphreys Pharmacal Inc.; and retailer Jeff Wright, Wright’s Nutrients.

NPA Southwest Region’s president, Rhonda Bone, Rhonda's Nature's Way, was appointed to the board.

Retailers continuing their two-year terms on the Natural Products Association Board of Directors are Carolyn Behrman, Natural Choices for Healthy Living; Donnie Caffrey, Good Foods Grocery Inc.; Roxanne Green, PCC Natural Markets; Howard Pollack, Rainbow Acres; Peggy Ranger, Peggy's Natural Foods Inc.; Randy Reinartz, Wayne and Mary’s Nutrition Center; Tom Sokoloff, Paradise Health Foods; and David Stouder, Apple Health Foods.

Suppliers continuing their two-year terms are Carilyn Anderson, Carlson Labs; Gary Hume, Nutraceutical Corp.; Mike Indursky, Burt’s Bees; Michael Schwartz, Michael’s Naturopathic Program; and Peter Zambetti, Capsugel.
