DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia—Ocean Nutrition Canada Ltd. (ONC) announced completion of a $19 million capacity expansion of its molecular distillation plant in Mulgrave, Nova Scotia; the expansion increased its capacity for its MEG-3® brand omega-3 EPA/DHA from fish oil by 100 percent. Through a joint venture with Alicorp Corp., Lima, Peru, to build a second fish oil manufacturing plant, ONC realized a 200 percent capacity increase in its MEG-3 30 percent fish oil.

Robert Orr, president, ONC, said: “With the exponential growth in consumer demand for omega-3 food and supplement products, we knew we had to be ahead of the game. With our capacity expansion, we are more than prepared to meet any supply demands for both our fish oil and micro-encapsulated ingredients. This capacity expansion secures our position as the world leader in the omega-3 dietary supplement and food industries, something we’re very proud of.”
