Pharmachem Acquires AVOCA Extraction Facility

KEARNY, N.J.Pharmachem Laboratories acquired the AVOCA Division ofR.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.; senior managers with AVOCA participated in thepurchase. AVOCA will function as a subsidiary of Pharmachem and will continue tooperate out of its 172,000-square-foot facility in Merry Hill, N.C. The locationis one of the largest botanical extraction facilities in North America.

This acquisition not only provides the added manufacturing capacities weneed for our expanding extraction and drying business, but also gives us anR&D capability unmatched in the natural products industry, said David A.Holmes, founder and president of Pharmachem (www.pharmachemlabs.com).The company already operates four processing and manufacturing facilities,including the H. Reisman Corp., and is the parent company of AmericanIngredients in Anaheim, Calif.
