KEARNY, N.J.—Pharmachem Laboratories Inc. hired Atlas Bioscience Inc., a full service bioanalytical firm in Tucson, Ariz., to support its internal quality control program launched to sample consumer products containing Pharmachem’s Phase2® ingredient (www.phase2info.com). According to Pharmachem, it has already identified several domestic and international companies that have under-formulated Phase 2 products.

“We are working with the violating companies, either directly or through counsel, to make sure they come into compliance with the license and label claims,” said Mitch Skop, director of new product development. “We have also implemented a 100 kg minimum purchase for Phase 2 and will only sell the ingredient to companies who have signed marketing licenses.”

In additional news, Pharmachem named Metagenics Inc., San Clemente, Calif., as the exclusive distributor of nutraceutical formulas containing Pharmachem’s LactiumPURE™ ingredient to health care professionals in North America, Australia and New Zealand. Lactium was developed and patented by the French firm Ingredia; the company worked with Metagenics to develop LactiumPURE, which is free from intact casein. Both compounds have been studied for their ability to support relaxation and a healthy stress response. Pharmachem is the exclusive distributor of Lactium (www.lactiumusa.com) within the United States, Mexico and Canada.
