PLT Founder Passes Away

FAR HILLS, N.J.Marvin S. Flowerman, the co-founder of P.L. Thomas, died Aug. 12 at his home here; he was 82. Together with Paul Green, he established P.L. Thomas in 1955, as well as a paper trading company and several manufacturing companies. Flowerman held a bachelors degree from Brooklyn College and a masters degree in international commerce from the New School. He served as an active elected councilman in Far Hills for six years, was a sculptor and ceramics artist, and played competitive tennis, in addition to his business pursuits.

Mr. Flowerman is survived by his widow, Libby; his brother Ted Flowerman; his daughter, Dr. Amy Cades and her husband Lonny Cades; son Paul Flowerman and his wife Margot Jackler; and six grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 15, 11 a.m. at Temple Bnai Or, Overlook Road, Morristown, N.J. Donations may be made to Metrowest Jewish Foundation, Chromosome 18 Registry or Memorial Sloan Kettering.
