SALINAS, Calif.A study conducted by Supplement Watch/GLH Nutrition found a blend of Magnolia officinalis bark extract and Phellodendron amurense bark extract significantly improved mood and other psychological states in moderately stressed subjects. The study has been accepted for publication in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (JISSN) 2013.

The results indicate that the daily use of Relora (from Next Pharmaceuticals) for four weeks reduced cortisol exposure and perceived stress while improving a variety of mood parameters including a reduction in anger by 42 percent and a reduction of fatigue by 31 percent.

Supplementation also reduced overall stress by 11 percent, tension by 13 percent, depression by 20 percent and confusion by 27 percent. Salivary cortisol exposure decreased by 18 percent and no adverse side effects were reported.

The Relora clinical trial will be discussed in a seminar presented by Dr. Shawn Talbott at SupplySide West Conference on Thursday, November 14, at 10 a.m. in the Sands Conference Room 101-102. The seminar will discuss in greater detail the findings of the study and the supplement's benefits on stress and mood. After the seminar, Dr. Talbott will sign copies of his book, The Secret of Vigor: How to Overcome Burnout, Restore Metabolic Balance, and Reclaim Your Natural Energy, at Next Pharmaceuticals booth, number 33056.
