  • Leading growth ingredients in 2004 included amino acids, glucosamine, coenzyme Q10, alpha-lipoic acid, L-carnitine and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM); and

  • More than 30 ingredients were deregulated in 2004, permitting their inclusion in functional foods and supplements.
