MILFORD, Ohio—J. Patrick “Pat” Toomey passed away March 6 of colon cancer; he was 58 years old. Toomey was a leader in the natural products industry, operating Toomey Natural Foods for more than 34 years and serving several times as an officer of the Natural Products Association (NPA, formerly the National Nutritional Foods Association), including as president of the association. He received the NPA Crusader Award in 2004.

“Pat was elected to the presidency during a time of great transition for the association,” said Debra Short, current president of NPA. “Pat’s legacy will be his vision to take the association to the next level through his infectious enthusiasm and dedication. He continues to be a beacon for achievement and we will always be grateful to him.”

In addition to his dedication to the natural products industry, he was an active figure in the Milford community, which was recognized in 2008 when he received Clermont County’s 20/20 award for his vision and dedication to civic issues. He served on the Milford Miami Township Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for almost 30 years, volunteered for the community’s Frontier Days and was a member of the board of directors for the Milford Community Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, three siblings and six grandchildren.
