Royal Numico Attempts To Resuscitate U.S. Operations

ZOETERMEER, The Netherlands--In a move to redefinethe responsibilities of the U.S. management team, Royal Numico N.V. reportedPeter van Wel would step down as a member of the executive board responsible forU.S. operations.

"By implementing a new U.S. management structure, we focusboth on execution of the divestments and on strengthening the retailcapabilities within GNC [General Nutrition Centers]," said Jan Bennink,Numico chief executive officer.

Currently, management of the individual U.S. companies willreport directly to Bennink. A successor for van Wel, whose ultimateresponsibility would be overseeing GNC, will be announced at a later date.
