Schreiner Retires from Lonzagroup, Utlger Takes Over
BASEL, Switzerland--Lonzagroup (www.lonzagroup.com) announced that Gerhart Schreiner, vice president and head of the business sector exclusive synthesis, has elected to retire, effective Nov. 30. Schreiner has been with Lonza in numerous functions for nearly 36 years. He began at Lonza in Visp as an R&D chemist and advanced through various positions, including managing director of R&D and, since 1997, as head of exclusive fine chemicals with worldwide responsibility. LukasUtlger, currently head of R&D for the exclusive synthesis business, will assume responsibility for the sector succeeding Schreiner. Markus Gemuend will assume the position of head of the Lonza biologics business sector, considered to be on of the Group's key and fastest growing activities in serving the life sciences market.
In related news, Michel Gerber, corporate communications and investor relations, took time off to consider a professional reorientation and left Lonzagroup, effective June 30. Walter Eschenmoser took over responsibilities for communications and investor relations with Lonza.
