Shaman Files for Bankruptcy
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--Shaman Pharmaceuticals voluntarily filed forChapter 11 on Jan. 5 in federal court in Northern California. The companybelieves bankruptcy protection was necessary to maximize value of its realestate lease and intellectual property for the benefit of its creditors andshareholders. It will continue to run as a debtor in possession and willreorganize to restructure its debts. In the meantime, its products will continueto sell in various outlets.
