LEONIA, N.J.—Rand Skolnick, president and CEO of Solgar Vitamin & Herb, passed away late last week, according to an online obituary at The New York Times. The third son of Solgar’s founders, Allen and Connie Skolnick, Rand Skolnick served as CEO of Solgar since 2005, re-focusing the company back on the natural products marketplace and emphasizing support to the independent retail channel.

Rand Skolnick was to be recognized during the Natural Products Association’s (NPA) annual trade show next week with the President’s Award in honor of his long-time contributions to the natural products industry. David Seckman, CEO and executive director of NPA, stated: "We were saddened to learn of Rand’s passing, and our condolences go out to all those who knew and were touched by him. Rand was scheduled to receive one of the association’s highest honors, the President’s Award, next week at our annual trade show. He was clearly the embodiment of this award as demonstrated by his lifelong commitment to the industry and its core constituents, natural products retailers. Rand was one of the true pioneers of this industry and his presence will be greatly missed."Share your comments here.
