Stiff Competition Drives SupplySide East Golf Classic

May 5 was a brisk New Jersey day for the 5th Annual SupplySide East GolfClassic, which kept the events 142 duffers moving along the links in acompetitive but friendly game at the Twin Brooks course. The tournament,cosponsored by Nutri Granulations, ended with the top three teams earning ascore of 61 (11 under par), and judges decided first, second and third placesafter considering play on the courses toughest holes.

Coming in first place were Greg Ris, Indena USA; Carl Ramjeet and OscarRamjeet, Natures Value; and consultant Andrew Compain. In second place wereBo Nickoloff, Larex Inc.; Derek Spence, Striker Partners; Win MacInnis, BannerPharmacaps Canada; and Chuck Wach, Natures Sunshine Products. Taking hometrophies for third place were William Murphy, Nutricia USA; and Gene Glancy,Julius Myer and Qun Yi Zheng of Pure World Botanicals.

While no one aced the $25,000 Hole-In-One contest this year, awards weregiven for mens and ladies Longest Drive competitions to Jim ODonnell,Blue California, and Amy Cone, Kemin Foods, respectively. As for the Closest tothe Pin competition, Greg Ris, Indena USA, was recognized for a shot that lefthim 10.5 inches from the pin, and Kim Austin, Solgar Vitamins, who hit a shotthat left her 15 feet 10 inches from the pin.

In addition to awards for good play, raffle prizes were given out during thebarbeque-style lunch of hot dogs, burgers and various salads. During thelunchtime raffle, golfers were awarded prizes including a two-ball putter, mensand ladies fleeces, and a club canopy, as well as a golf bag, gloves andSupplySide logo balls.

Everybody enjoyed the hospitality of the people here at Twin Brooks forthe second straight year, said Kevin Salerno, vice president of sales atNutri Granulations, and we are looking forward to finding another friendlycourse in the Baltimore area next year.
