Straus Earns EPA Nod

MARSHALL, Calif.--Straus Family Creamery was awarded theEnvironmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Environmental Award at the 5th annualEnvironmental Awards Ceremony, held April 22. EPA honored Straus for provingthat businesses "can go green while staying in the black through strongpollution prevention and resource protection programs," according toStraus. EPA noted Straus has consistently sought to improve its environmentalresponsibility, including bottling milk in recycled and reusable glass bottles,which saves an estimated 6.1 million pounds of waste from entering landfills,according to the company (www.strausmilk.com).EPA also recognized Straus for encouraging other family farmers to transition toorganic.
