Study: Hops Extract Reduces Bacteria in Chickens

Lupulone, a compound found in the hops plant (Humulus lupulus) was found to control Clostridium perfringens, a pathogenic bacteria in the intestines of chickens, according to USDA/ARS.

“Certain bacteria in the intestines of chickens not only can cause contamination of meat during processing, but also may pose major production losses by causing disease in the broiler chicken,” noted an ARS news release.
