SunOpta Acquires Sunflower Company

TORONTOSunOpta Inc.(NASDAQ:STKL), previously known as Stake Technologies, reached an agreement inlate October to acquire the business and operating assets of SIGCO Sun ProductsInc. of Breckenridge, Minn. SIGCO markets non-genetically modified sunflowerproducts in the United States and abroad, and had approximately $20 million inrevenues in its last year of operations.

SunOpta also reported Nov. 5 that for its third quarter(3Q03), ended Sept. 30, sales increased 54 percent, coming in at $50.4 millionfrom $32.8 million, while net earnings climbed to $2.1 million from $1.5million.
