Symrise Breaks Ground for New Global Citrus Center in Brazil
April 13, 2007
Symrise is launching a global citrus facility that began with the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the companys new Global Citrus Center in Sorocaba, Brazil. In establishing the Global Citrus Center, the fragrance and flavoring manufacturer is expanding its expertise in the field of natural citrus flavorings.
The Brazilian site, in particular, opens up entirely new opportunities: two factorsdirect proximity to areas where high-quality, natural citrus fruits are grown, along with the combination of expertise both from the companys own basic research and from innovative, in-house technologiesprovide a perfect basis for continuing to enhance the sensory properties and quality of natural flavorings.
Over the course of two construction phases, Symrise will be creating 30,000 m2 of new facilities to house the Development and Application Technologies Divisions, as well as pilot plants for a variety of processing technologies.
In addition, Symrise will make an investment mid-year that will increase spray-drying capacity at its existing site in Brazil. Were also planning to continue expanding our efforts in beverage flavor compounds, says Hans Holger Gliewe, president of the Flavor & Nutrition Division for the South America region.
The Global Citrus Center is evidence that we have big plans, explains Dr. Heinz-Juergen Bertram the global president of Flavor & Nutrition. We see this as the start of our international citrus offensive. Weve been experts on citrus flavorings for decades now, and with this experienced, dedicated team, were going to continue our success story and build on it. Brazil is the perfect site for our core citrus competency, Bertram confirms.
