Takeda Fined for Price-Fixing
OTTAWA--In early March, Takeda Chemical was fined C$5.2 million ($3.6 million U.S.) forfixing the price of two vitamin products, vitamin B2 and vitamin C. The company has alsobeen prohibited from repeating the competition offenses for 10 years. The sentence washanded down by the Federal Court of Canada.
Takeda pleaded guilty to charges that it participated in an international price-fixingconspiracy between 1991 and 1995. The conspiracy affected the prices of food,pharmaceutical products and animal feed.
