The Campaign Offers Free Membership

WASHINGTON--The Campaign to Label Genetically Engineered Foods now has freemembership. In an effort to expand its membership base, the grassroots,non-profit advocacy group against genetically modified foods has decided tooffer research materials (tapes, books, packets) at fair market value ratherthan at cost, while making membership free. "We feel that people will bewilling to pay [fair market value] because it's worth it," said CraigWinters, the Campaign's executive director. "This will generate the cashflow that we need."

Also, donations to be a "Friend of the Campaign" has been decreasedfrom $250 to $25. Winters added that United Natural Foods, Whole Foods andFuture Consumers Co-op are some of its supporters. For more information, visit www.thecampaign.org.
